Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
It is simply a recommendation in the Qu'ran. What is important is the reasoning/logic behind the recommendation. It is essentially that which is the most important things to follow and take into account.
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
it's a bogus...the whole thing is bogus
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
If they don't wear the courtain thingies they get beat by their understanding hubbies. OR, they don't believe in putting suncreen.

Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
Hi toto,
I think you have come to the wrong web site to ask such a question. There are lots of muslim haters hovering around. You should google for a decent muslim women's web site to gather enough information to make your informed and educated decision. Not here.
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
It's more of a cultural thing than a religion. In some countries Muslim women do not have to cover themselves, but in other, usually more extremist, countries, women are almost completely covered. It's not the religion, it's society.
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
yes
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
The Muslim leaders (Men) did not want other men checking out their wives.
Islam: Does Muslim women have to wear veil??
it's another form of facism.
as we say in the west,
keeping a woman barefoot and pregnant
is a form of control.
it's just another cultural way to keep women thinking
they are 10% of what a man is worth.
i feel so sorry for muslim women.

Cover is not a priority even though it is mandated. The priority is faith, knowledge of Islam and observance of Salat (prayers). If the woman is assimilating the teaching of Islam properly then she will continue of what to do and what not to do
The whole point, modesty is prescribed to protect women from molestation or simply, modesty is protection. Thus, the only purpose of the veil in Islam is protection
A culture of modesty is badly needed, modesty in dress, in speech, and in manners of both men and women. Otherwise, the grim statistics will grow even worse day after day and, unfortunately, women alone will be paying the price. Actually, we all suffer but as K. Gibran has said, "...for the person who receives the blows is not like the one who counts them." 84 .
Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) says, when a girl reaches puberty, she cannot show any part of her body except her face and hands; . , Islamically, a woman can uncover her face and hands, but if she lives in a country where they cover them, she would be in compliance with that tradition in that country.
Naheed Mustafa graduated from the University of Toronto with an honours degree in political and history. She is currently studying journalism at Ryerson Polytechnic University she said ;
WOMEN are taught from early childhood that their worth is proportional to their attractiveness. We feel compelled to pursue abstract notions of beauty, half realizing that such a pursuit is futile.
When women reject this form of oppression, they face ridicule and contempt. Whether it's women who refuse to wear makeup or to shave their legs, or to expose their bodies, society, both men and women, have trouble dealing with them.
In the Western world, the hijab has come to symbolize either forced silence or radical, unconscionable militancy. Actually, it's neither. It is simply a woman's assertion that judgment of her physical person is to play no role whatsoever in social interaction.
Wearing the hijab has given me freedom from constant attention to my physical self. Because my appearance is not subjected to public scrutiny, my beauty, or perhaps lack of it, has been removed from the realm of what can legitimately be discussed.
No one knows whether my hair looks as if I just stepped out of a salon, whether or not I can pinch an inch, or even if I have unsightly stretch marks. And because no one knows, no one cares.
Feeling that one has to meet the impossible male standards of beauty is tiring and often humiliating. I should know, I spent my entire teenage years trying to do it. It was a borderline bulimic and spent a lot of money I didn't have on potions and lotions in hopes of becoming the next Cindy Crawford.
The standing of woman in prayers behind man does not indicate in any sense that she is inferior to him. Woman, as already mentioned, is exempt from attending congregational prayers which are obligatory on man. But if she does attend, she stands in separate lines made up of women exclusively . This is a regulation of discipline in prayers, and not a classification of importance. In men's rows, the head of state stands shoulder to shoulder to the pauper. Men of the highest ranks in society stand in prayer side by side with other men of the lowest ranks. The order of lines in prayers is introduced to help every one to concentrate in his meditation. It is very important because Muslim prayers are not simply chanting or the sing-a-song type. They involve actions, motions, standing, bowing, prostration, etc. So if men mix with women in the same lines, it is possible that something disturbing or distracting may happen. The mind will become occupied by something alien to prayer and derailed from the clear path of mediation. The result will be a loss of the purpose of prayers, besides an offense of adultery committed by the eye, because the eye - by looking at forbidden things - can be guilty of adultery as much as the heart itself. Moreover, no Muslim man or woman is allowed during prayers to touch the body of another person of the opposite sex. If men and women stand side by side in prayer they cannot avoid touching each other.
Furthermore, when a woman is praying in front of a man or beside him, it is very likely that any part of her dressed body may become uncovered after a certain motion of bowing or prostrating. The man's eye may happen to be looking at the uncovered part, with the result that she will be embarrassed and he will be exposed to distraction or possibly evil thoughts. So, to avoid any embarrassment and distraction to help concentrate on mediation and pure thoughts, to maintain harmony and order among worshippers, to fulfill the true purposes of prayers, Islam has ordained the organization of rows, whereby men stand in front lines, and women behind the children. Anyone with some knowledge of the nature and purpose of Muslim prayerscan readily understand the wisdom of organizing the lines of worshippers in this manner.
